About Me
I am proud to be standing to be your Labour Police and Crime Commissioner for Nottinghamshire.
I spent the early years of my life in Doctor Barnardo’s care homes until I was adopted by my parents at the age of seven. This is why I am passionate about every child having the best possible start in life. From this experience and through my working life I have seen the challenges that vulnerable people can face when they don't have the right guidance, support or purpose.
I come to politics with real life experience of working in our public services for the NHS and the Police Service where swingeing budget cuts and austerity have been challenging for both employees and service users.
As a former Police Officer with 15 years’ service, I have worked in and with the communities of Nottinghamshire, building their trust and confidence and demonstrating the standards required for the office of Nottinghamshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner.
I'll be a strong voice for all the community, and I recognise the importance of the local Police and Crime Commissioner being at the heart of the community. The role demands a Police and Crime Commissioner who will engage with the whole of Nottinghamshire, which is diverse in population and in geographical area. I am very proud to represent Labour and the Co – operative Party as their values reflect the opportunities that I've experienced in my life.
As a Labour PCC my priorities will be to support our local communities by funding extra neighbourhood Police and PCSOs on our streets to help keep residents safe. We will put Police hubs at the heart of our towns so that neighbourhoods can go and share their local concerns and know they are being listened to.
We will restore confidence in Policing.
It’s not good enough to simply explain the damage that this government is doing to our public services, so as your Labour PCC candidate I will communicate my values and take action to support and protect the communities of Nottinghamshire.
I'm committed to the communities of Nottinghamshire and believe in equality and justice for all.
A vote for me is a vote for a Safer Nottinghamshire.
